Teaching Writing that Matters in All Disciplines with a Focus on Content Learning

Summer 2018 Institute

Dates: July 23, 24, 25, 26, 2018      9:00 am – 2:30 pm

Venue: TBD

Institute participants will focus their conversations, writing, and inquiries on Equity, Argument Writing Instruction, Civil Discourse, College, Career, and Community Readiness, and support for all students in our linguistically and culturally diverse classrooms.

During our institute, we will

  • share experiences: celebrations and challenges;
  • read, write, and have constructive conversations about current research;
  • discuss and explore frameworks and state standards;
  • bring and share student writing and texts from our classrooms;
  • share and collaborate to design instructional strategies and tools to teach and assess critical reading and analytical argument writing in specific disciplines;
  • write reflections about the impact of school, district, and state policies, and instructional and assessment approaches.
  • build a professional learning community, based on common understanding

We will document and use what we learn to provide professional learning programs that support teachers and students in our CCWP region.
