Who are we?
The Central California Writing Project is a non-profit, professional development organization for teachers, affiliated with two larger parent organizations: The California Writing Project at the state level–and The National Writing Project at the national level.

The California Writing Project is a member of the California Subject Matter Project (CSMP) network of nine discipline-specific projects administered by the University of California Office of the President (UCOP) that provide high-quality professional development for K-12 teachers throughout California. Each project is represented statewide by regional sites on the campuses of UC, California State University, and independent colleges and universities.

What is our mission?
Our extensive network of teacher-consultants are dedicated to improving the teaching of writing in Santa Cruz, San Benito and Monterey Counties through a range of diverse professional learning experiences for teachers of all levels.

What do we believe?
The Central California Writing Project believes that all students and teacher-learners have a basic right to high-quality education and it is our responsibility to facilitate access to those educational experiences in the pursuit of equity across all populations. The Central California Writing Project values diversity—our own as well as that of our students, their families, and their communities. We recognize that our lives and practices are enriched when those with whom we interact represent diversities of race, gender, class, ethnicity, and language.
